Respondent: Ms Jackie Brand

Representation Summary:

This policy lacks any vision or ambition for Bedford Town centre, in terms of the feel, ambience and what type of businesses we want attract.
The policy is so vague, it basically says, you can set up any business you want as long as we can disperse businesses that could increase anti-social behaviour.
Lets have a purpose-built town centre theatre; there is space with all the large empty retail outlets. Make better use of pedestrianised areas with restaurants, cafes with outside seating. eg the square near Church Arcade, North Riverside area and space beside Debenhams. More greenery; more trees, plants.
