Representation ID: 9309

Received: 28/07/2022

Respondent: Milton Ernest Parish Council

Representation Summary:

The whole plan is heavily relent on the EWR project going ahead. As there is now some uncertainty whether this project will move forward, how will the Borough Council manage this eventuality?
Milton Ernest Parish Council would like clarity on how the EWR Bedford to Cambridge section will impact the A6 corridor, in particular the consequence of high-speed trains travelling high above the floodplain as they leave Bedford and the increased traffic passing through Milton Ernest Village as a result of increased rail usage.

Representation Summary:

Milton Ernest Parish Council acknowledges the work done by neighbouring parishes to prepare and submit their NDP to the Borough.
However we are seriously concerned on the impact this will have on the volume of traffic utilising the A6 through the village to access Bedford or heading north. We would urge the Borough Council to undertake a review into the increased traffic flow through the Milton Ernest as a consequence of the planned development and seek alternatives to mitigate the impact on the local community and the achievement of its carbon reduction strategy.

Milton Ernest Parish Council acknowledges your inclusion of our 'made' NDP. We are pleased to see that the draft 2040 local plan includes and acknowledges the agreed allocation of 25 new dwellings for the village and that there is no requirement for further development beyond this number within the 2040 plan. The Parish has no plans for further development within the village.

Representation Summary:

Milton Ernest Parish Council acknowledges that the 2040 plan will increase traffic within the Borough and particularly on the A6 corridor running through the village. We would expect the Brough council to consider how this will impact on the local community including noise and pollution.
