Representation Summary:

I am responding as I am very concerned about the potential development of a new town at Dennybrook –in one of the most rural parts of north Bedfordshire.
Over the last twenty years, development has changed the nature of the Borough, making villages more urban and resulting in the loss of countryside.
The extension of Bedford to the surrounding villages has occurred without the necessary road infrastructure.
I am concerned that the new village/town at Chawston /Staploe will have a major impact on the highway network – the lanes between Bedford and St Neot’s are already under pressure from the increasing traffic demand. Five thousand new homes will mean the lanes at Bushmead and Thurleigh, and the lanes within Wilden, Renhold and Ravensden will also receive an unacceptable load.
The highway design at Ravensden Park, with the roundabout on Cleat Hill,is an example of a poor solution which will lead to a decline in the quality of the area.

Reference to the Bedford Northern Station
East West Rail do not favour parkway stations. Reference to a “northern station “ should be removed from the traffic modelling studies. Such a station is not in the EW Rail proposals and so should not be a factor in determining the consequences of development at Dennybrook or any other potential settlement to the north of Bedford.
