I support the requirement for 10% net gain but consider that all development should be required to include enhancement of natural resources, eg through appropriate tree and hedge planting on site and that the 10" net gain should not be restricted to major development. Development at all scales ( including house extensions) lead to the loss of garden habitats , adding to the decline of wildlife and local character . All proposals should contribute in some way to the renewal of our urban and village environments.

While 10% BNG is not yet enshrined in law it will be, and furthermore the Borough Council has signed up to the Arc Environment Principles requiring delivery of 20% BNG.
