New searchBuild on the better value that Bedford offers (lower cost good quality housing, lower cost good quality business premises) - quality not crammed in quality. Significantly improve quality of lifestyle (particularly Wixams & partially Wootton are no more than large housing estates - neither has an obvious central green area. Expend the Marston Vale forest, create additional but smaller equivalent type forests). Create smooth/hassle free e2e transport links.
How does Bedford deal with all the waste & pollution generated, do we send waste to be processed/stored elsewhere, do we take waste from other parts of the country. We need far more aggressive targets to significantly reduce landfill waste, stop pollution of rivers/waterways/land & clean up/redevelop derelict/under used brown field sites. England is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, pollution is a even bigger danger than climate change - scientists gave us fossil fuels/plastic/agricultural pesticides & so their advice/guidance has be thoroughly questioned.
I don't think so, however my view is that government guidance on several matters is far short of what is actually needed - 3 topics in particular:- - green spaces within all development areas & particularly in already over &/or poorly developed areas (again Wixams & Wootton are the prime examples) - robust flood prevention & robust flood defences - designers/developers must be adhere to clear instructions that areas can withstand significant/prolonged heavy/excessive rainfall - waste & pollution, landfill waste has to dramatical reduce. Penalties for dropping litter, fly tipping need, etc must be rigorously enforced
